2013年5月，坂本龍一时隔16年在日本国内与东京爱乐乐团合作，带来视听盛宴"Playing the Orchestra 2013"。

收录曲目从专辑「out of noise」中的歌曲「still life」的交响乐版本，到YMO第二张专辑「Solid State Survivor」

中以交响乐为形象创作的歌曲「Castalia」，以及「Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence」、「The Last Emperor」、

「The Sheltering Sky」等电影配乐在内的众多名曲。

2013年5月に行われた、日本では16年振りの坂本龍一のフル・オーケストラとの共演となる

[Playing the Orchestra 2013]。5月7日:フェスティバルホール (大阪)、9日:サントリー

ホール (大ホール)、10日:東京芸術劇場コンサートホールで行われた今回の公演からベスト・

トラックをチョイス。

アルバム「out of noise」(2009年)に収録された「still life」のオーケストラ・ヴァージョン

「Still Life - orchestra version」から、YMO 2ndアルバム「Solid State Survivor」(1979年)

に収録され、当時オーケストラをイメージして作り、今回オーケストラでの初演奏となる「Castalia」、

そして「Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence (戦場のメリークリスマス)」、「The Last Emperor」、

「The Sheltering Sky」などの映画音楽からの楽曲まで、新たにオーケストラ用に編曲された数々の

名曲を収録。坂本龍一のピアノとフル・オーケストラで広がる多彩な音世界を満喫できるアルバムです。
