　　Suirvivor乐队早年由 Jim Peterik（键盘手）,Gary Smith和Dennis Keith Johnson,DaveBickler,Frankie Sullivan组成。Dave Bickler担任主唱。 Stephan 和Marc Droubay随后加入。 第一张正式专辑《Premonition》在1981年推出。乐队随即在1982年应西尔维斯特史泰龙为电影《洛奇3》作主题曲《eye of the tiger》，并且推出同名专辑《eye of the tiger》。此曲一举夺得本年格莱美奖并且荣获多项最佳单曲奖项，将survivor乐队推到了顶峰。但在1983年乐队主唱Dave Bickler进行了喉部手术后，Jimi Jamison应survivor乐队邀请并加入乐队，担任主唱（1984-1989）。乐队随后在1985年应西尔维斯特史泰龙之邀继续为电影《洛奇4》作曲并演唱《Burning heart》。1986年在专辑《When Seconds Count》销量达到了500,000张，乐队被鉴定为“金品质”的地位。1989年，Dave Bickler归队后继续担任主唱，Jimi Jamison退出了survivor乐队。1989-2000年，乐队除了演唱会工作以外，还参加了Work on Greatest Hits album（最伟大的经典音乐收集册）工作。2000-2006年，乐队发表了新的专辑《Reach》，并且加入了新的成员。
