《Off The Wall》1979年8月10日，迈克尔·杰克逊发行专辑《Off The Wall》，此为迈克尔·杰克逊和昆西·琼斯(Quincy Jones)首次合作也是从The Jackson5单飞后的发行首张个人专辑。
《Thriller》 1982年12月1日，迈克尔·杰克逊发行第二张专辑《Thriller》，《Thriller》是世界历史上销量最高的一张专辑，2006年11月的世界音乐大奖上，吉尼斯主编克雷格现身会场，在原先“最畅销专辑”（已售出超过5100万）的认证基础上，宣布《Thriller》为唱片史上首张过亿专辑，销量为1.04亿，这个记录记载在新的世界吉尼斯记录大全（2007年）中。其正版销量截止2009年已达1.11亿张，至今无人能破，被载入吉尼斯世界纪录大全。《Thriller》为Michael Jackson成年后正式发行的第2张个人专辑，此专辑影响巨大，奠定了Michael Jackson歌王的地位。将事业推到最高峰。
《Bad》 1987年8月31日，迈克尔·杰克逊发行了个人第3专辑《Bad》，Michael Jackson在Thriller之后，趁热打铁，推出了这张商业上非常成功的专辑，不但风靡全美，还成功反攻英伦，成为英国音乐史上总销量第二的唱片，仅次于 Beatles的Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band。专辑共11首歌（MJ当年本来是打算发行双LP，共30首歌的专辑，但Qunincy Jones砍到了11首，CD版甚至只有十首歌），有9首都是英美热门打榜单曲，其中I Just Can't Stop Loving You等5首歌曲都先后成为英美冠军单曲，实在是强悍。此时的MICHAEL正走在人生的巅峰时期。
《Dangerous》 1991年11月26日，迈克尔·杰克逊发行了个人第四专辑，与《Thriller》和《Bad》一样，在《Dangerous》中同样产生了7首畅销单曲，除了"Black or White"，还包括"Remember the Time"、"In the Closet"和"Will You Be There"等等。这张专辑售出超过3200万张，是历史上最畅销的New jack swing专辑。1993年，迈克尔先后获美国音乐奖“国际艺人大奖”、“格莱美传奇奖”、“年度人道主义奖”及世界音乐大奖颁发的3项大奖。

《Blood on the Dance Floor/HIStory in the Mix》 1997年5月20日，此专辑为Michael Jackson成年后正式发行的第六张个人专辑，第一次打破了MICHAEL每隔四年发行一张专辑的惯例。此辑前五首为新歌，后八首为历史专辑部分歌曲超级混音版。这是史上销量最高混音专辑。（这张专辑只有5首新歌，还有8首来自于他1995年的双专辑 HIStory Past,Present and Future Book 1 中的舞曲混音。）而作为一张混音专辑，《Blood on The Dance Floor》成了有史以来最畅销的混音辑。也有人作此猜测：由于这是一张混音专辑，所以基本上只有那些喜欢“HIStory”单曲混音的Michael Jackson歌迷会买这张专辑。所以权衡来讲，《Blood on The Dance Floor》仍然还是成功的。
《Invincible》 2001年10月30日，此专辑为Michael Jackson成年后正式发行的第七张个人专辑，据称，这将是MICHAEL发行的最后一张全新歌曲的正式专辑。专辑《万夫莫敌》（Invincible）发行。这是迈克尔杰克逊，生前最后一张创作专辑。首支单曲《You Rock My World》是一首回归《Off The Wall》专辑时期曲风，并Invincible专辑封面带有浓重弦乐编曲烘托的作品，由Rodney Jerkins担当制作大任。《Invincible》专辑虽然有极高制作水准，同以往每张专辑一样，一经发行便荣登世界各国销量榜首（包括中国香港）。整张专辑又只拍摄2支MV，Invincible在美国卖出了200万张，全球1200万张。虽然数字很惊人，但与迈克尔以前的专辑相比，似乎不尽人意。"You Rock My World" 进入美国流行音乐榜前十名，仅停留了一周的时间，但依然强势的首周登上英国单曲排行榜亚军。"Butterflies" 在美国打榜前20名，在R&B 榜上排名第二，但并没有进入流行音乐榜前十名。2001年，以独唱艺人的身份再度入主“摇滚名人堂”。2002年以词曲创作家身分第三次入主摇滚名人堂 2002年11月，迈克尔在德国柏林获得“2002年德国千年Bambi奖”，以承认他世界“最伟大的流行歌手”的地位。这个奖项是德国最具权威的奖项之一。
